Welcome to the Olive Tree Surgery Blog

Hello, and welcome to the Olive Tree Surgery blog.

Most people only think about their trees when something goes wrong: a branch comes down in a storm, a neighbour mentions a worrying lean, or a tree starts blocking the light. By then you’re often making decisions in a hurry, without the information you need. We’re starting this blog to help with that.

    What you’ll find here

Over the coming months we’ll be sharing practical, plain-English advice drawn from the work we do across Glasgow, the central belt, Edinburgh and Lothian. Expect posts on:

    • Seasonal tree care, including what to check before winter storms and when different trees are best pruned
    • Rules and permissions, such as tree protection and what to check before work begins
    • Costs and quotes, including what affects the price of tree work and what a good quote should cover
    • Choosing the right tree, for new planting and replacements, especially in smaller gardens
    • Wildlife and trees, from nesting birds to bats and how to support them
    • Jobs we’ve worked on, with the problems we found and how we approached them

    Who it’s for

Whether you have a single tree in a back garden, manage a rental property or look after a commercial site, we want these posts to be useful to you.

    Get in touch

If there’s something you’d like us to cover, or you have a tree you’re unsure about, send us a message and we’ll try to answer it in a future post. You can see everything we offer on our services page, and our service areas page shows where we work.

Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you find the blog useful.
